The Sindh Minimum Wages Board has proposed a significant Rs3,000 increase in the minimum wage for workers across the province. According to reports, the board submitted a proposal to the provincial government, recommending an 8.1% hike in the monthly minimum salary for various categories of workers. The minimum wage, which was Rs37,000, is now suggested to rise to Rs40,000.
This proposed change will affect all workers, including unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers. The new wages will apply to workers in 60 industries in Sindh and will come into effect on July 1, 2025.
The proposal includes different pay scales based on skill levels. For example:
-
Semi-skilled workers will see a proposed salary of Rs41,280.
-
Skilled workers will get Rs48,910.
-
Highly skilled workers will receive Rs50,868.
The Sindh Government Gazette issued the notification on this matter, signed by the Secretary of the Sindh Minimum Wages Board, Mohammad Naeem Mangi. The notice also allows the public to submit any objections to the proposal within 14 days.

The board clarified that these new wage rates should not be viewed as maximum limits. Employers who are already paying higher than the proposed rates must not reduce their workers’ pay. They are also allowed to offer higher wages if needed, based on factors like experience, cost of living, or other specific circumstances in their locality.
It’s important to note that this change applies to full-time workers, including temporary and piece-rated workers, from the date the notification is issued by the Labour & Human Resources Department of the Sindh Government.
This increase in wages comes after the federal government also announced a 10% salary raise for its employees and those working in the armed forces and civil armed forces.
With these changes, workers in Sindh will see an improvement in their take-home pay, especially in industries where wages were previously lower. Keep an eye on further notifications to ensure you are receiving the correct pay.
